SIGNIUS implements solutions that meet WCAG requirements

As a provider of software for electronic signatures, electronic seals and time stamps, SIGNIUS has set up a dedicated support team to tailor our services to be WCAG-compliant and meet the requirements of our business customers and public organisations in this area.

WCAG standards

WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) are guidelines for the accessibility of web content. They were created by the World Wide Web Consortium to ensure that the design and creation of websites will be as accessible as possible to people with disabilities in the future.

This is increasingly important for public institutions. From 23 September 2020, European Union public sector organisations must have websites that are fully compliant with the EU Web Accessibility Directive. And by 23 June 2021, their mobile apps must also be fully accessible.

In the digital age with the Online Accessibility Act, the obligation to make all online services progressively accessible to citizens also applies to all citizens, including people with disabilities, which are defined as follows in version 2.1 of the guidelines:

• visual impairments and blindness
• hearing impairments and deafness
• mobility impairments
• cognitive and learning disabilities
• photosensitivity
• multiple disabilities

First implementation of the SIGNIUS platform adapted to WCAG 2.1 guidelines

SIGNIUS has completed a project to comprehensively adapt the SIGNIUS platform for remote document signing to the requirements of WCAG 2.1 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) for one of the best Polish universities – SGGW in Warsaw. The implementation of the project in accordance with WCAG guidelines ensures greater accessibility and user-friendliness for people with various disabilities, including those with low vision. It enables university employees, students and representatives of external companies to digitally sign documents without barriers.

Basic setting options, such as adjusting contrast and font size, will soon be incorporated into the standard. Accessibility functionalities will be progressively developed in line with WCAG guidelines.
